Now here are the step-by-step instructions...

Step 1 : Wash and press your stitched piece.

Step 2: Measure your stitched piece and decide how big you want your nametag to be. Cut two pieces of matboard to that size.
Tip : Some framing shops will sell or give away scraps of mat board.

Step 3: Cut out several pieces of batting, slightly larger than your matboard. I like to use warm and natural for items I don't want to give a bulky look to but I want slightly padded. For my nametag I cut two pieces for the front and one piece for the back.

Step 4: Place strips of double sided tape to your matboard.

Step 5: Remove tape backing and center batting over matboard pieces. To adhere multiple layers of batting I simply used more double sided tape.
Tip : I purchase double sided acid-free tape from a framing shop, it can also be found in art supply shops.

Step 6: With scissors trim away excess batting on both front and back pieces.

Step 7: Center front piece of matboard over your stitched nametag.

Step 8: At this point you may either glue your stitched piece onto your matboard (see ornament instructions). As I find I can adjust my pieces to be centered I like to lace my piece to the matboard. To lace your piece thread some perle cotton (my preference) on an needle, tie a knot at one end.

Step 9 : Sewing back and forth, lace the long sides of your stitched piece first. Then lace the short sides.

Step 10: Select and press your backing fabric. Cut a piece slightly larger than your matboard.

Step 11 : Using a hot glue gun, glue your backing fabric to the mat board. (for more detailed instructions please see my ornament tutorial)

Step 12 : With needle and thread sew your brooch pin onto your backing.
Tip: A curved needle may make this step easier, I didn't have one. You should be able to get brooch pins at any store that sells craft materials or fabric shops.

Step 13 : With needle and thread stitch together, front and back pieces.
Tip : A curved needle and invisible quilting thread are handy for this step.

Step 14 : The two pieces are now nicely sewn together, and the stitching is fairly invisible. At this time you can choose to embellish with ribbons, cord etc.

Sorry about the poor focus of some of these photos I just couldn't get my camera to take the pictures any clearer. Hunter chose not to appear for this finishing session.
